Statement on Pathfinder Scouts Vietnam (PSV)
The World Scout Bureau Asia-Pacific Support Centre became aware of several emails shared over the past period with NSOs around the world challenging the constitutional compliance of Pathfinder Scouts Vietnam(PSV), the WOSM Member Organization in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
As outlined in the fact sheet shared through Circular 37/2018, the process towards membership of PSV took almost a decade of capacity strengthening, training of adult leaders and due diligence supported by the Asia-Pacific Scout Region. In addition an extensive effort of unification was undertaken, focused at unifying the multiple separate Scout Associations and Scout Groups throughout the country into a single National Scout Organization, as required by the WOSM Constitution.
As is sometimes the case with other membership applications, some local Scout groups decided for reasons of their own not to join our WOSM Member Organization. We understand the emails captioned above are sent by individuals who belong to independent, non-WOSM affiliated groups.
The WSB Asia-Pacific Support Centre continues to support PSV in welcoming Scout groups from around Viet Nam within the NSO. We further confirm PSV is in good standing with WOSM and remains compliant with all membership requirements.
