At times, our Scout service presents us with new and difficult challenges. In some cases, you may find yourself called upon to support young people at a time when the word “war” is heard often.

Whether seeing or hearing about parts of a conflict or war on Instagram or following a comprehensive news report on a reputable channel, young people may be seeing things that bring uncertainty or fear into their lives. As a result, they may have questions and anxieties that need to be addressed.

This guide, prepared by the Junák - Scouts of Czechia, has been translated and adapted, with their permission, to give guidance to NSOs and all adults on speaking about war with children. For the original version in Czech, click here.
