The Africa Scout Foundation is pleased to launch the second open-call for Scout-led projects that promote education of active citizens creating positive change in their communities and in the world based on shared values. Upon meeting the set criteria, successful projects will be selected to benefit from the grant.

In May 2020, the Africa Scout Foundation launched the first open-call for Scout-led projects and 16 young projects were selected and funded. From the call we received 209 proposals from 24 NSOs. Additionally, 20 more projects have received funding through the MOP grant, Eric Frank Trust and the Neysmith Youth Led Grant. The projects' focus varied from Post-covid emergency projects, Youth Programme activities, trainings, Better World Framework Initiatives and/or local awareness campaigns focusing on education and creating a culture of peace. All the shortlisted projects demonstrated an aspect of community involvement.

For the 2023 call, projects could fall under the following themes: environmental sustainability, community development, the promotion of dialogue and peace, relief in times of need, education and youth involvement. All projects should demonstrate aspects of community involvement.

The Africa Scout Foundation was established in 1995 to provide Africa Scout Region with financial support needed for the growth and development of Scouting. This was out of the realization that, Scouting in Africa, if well supported financially, will help more young Africans to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to be responsible, self-reliant citizens and dependable leaders of the future. The vision for the foundation is “ensuring a future for Scouting in Africa”

The Africa Scout Foundation fund is available to all Scouts and Young leaders aged between 18 years to 26 years old.

1. The Project must provide local solutions to local problems in the community;
2. Each Project needs to address one or more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
3. The project needs to promote education and equip young people with knowledge and skills to become responsible citizens;
4. Projects need to clearly demonstrate sustainability beyond the funding period;
5. Projects submitted by Rover Scout Groups are highly encouraged;
6. The google form should be fully completed.

Africa Scout Foundation fund Terms and Conditions: 

1. The proposals should be sent on https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmXbmmM_iZ2EzXbbqtGZB-kWIhFw2g... on or before 28th February 2023
2. The project duration must be six months, including implementation and conclusion of the project starting from 22nd March 2023 until 22nd September 2023.  
3. The amount to be granted per project is up to USD 1500
4. All selected projects are required to comply with the reporting process of the Africa Scout Foundation, including regular project updates and a final report to be submitted at the end for the project.
5. Scouts must be registered in a National Scout Organisation that is in good standing with WOSM. 
6. Capital or infrastructure projects are excluded.
