At the recent monitoring and evaluation of the Ticket to Life (TTL) project in Indonesia, Regional Director JR Pangilinan visited the sites where the TTL project is being delivered in Indonesia, particularly in LPKA Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan, a special development institution for children under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The Scout Troop of children in the streets of Jakarta has been running for about a decade.

After a fruitful discussion with the Scout Leaders, partners, parents, and the Scouts, it was found that Novita, a former TTL beneficiary, is currently working as staff in a food and beverage company. Another Scout named Roy, also a former TTL beneficiary, works as an IT expert in a business process outsourcing company. They are just two examples of Scouts who achieved the long-term goal of the TTL project.

Just before the field visit, over 30 Scout Leaders attended the Asia-Pacific Region’s flagship project, the Ticket to Life (TTL) Workshop in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on 14-16 November 2022.

Yogyakarta Special Region Scout Council and the Chairperson and Crown Princess, Her Royal Highness GKR Mangkubumi, hosted the participants and staff from Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. All participants were Scout leaders currently delivering and committed to sustaining a Ticket to Life troop in their communities.

The Asia-Pacific Region Ticket to Life Project is the flagship project of the Region which aims to reform and integrate Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances or CEDCs back into society. Starting from 2008, TTL has helped numerous Scouts in over 10 National Scout Organizations across the Region to get a pass in living as an active young person, growing with their peers through Scouting.

TTL is currently extending its beneficiaries throughout the Region. Through these workshops, they empower more Scout leaders to manage their own TTL Scout troop and be part of the change in the Region through the project. Aside from CEDCs, the project also recently accepted Scout troops that cater to young people belonging to vulnerable groups.
