The COVID-19 pandemic has altered how Scouting programmes and activities are being implemented around the world. As National Scout Organizations adapt to this new reality, World Scouting is also evolving the way it delivers support virtually through WOSM Services and other professional learning and development opportunities. 

Around the world, more than 250 WOSM Consultants have been trained and equipped to deliver support to National Scout Organizations virtually. The National Association of Cambodian Scouts is among the many Member Organizations who are taking advantage of this virtual support during the pandemic.

They recently became the first National Scout Organization to undergo a virtual assessment using the Global Support Assessment Tool (GSAT), World Scouting’s Quality Standard to measure the compliance of National Scout Organizations towards international best practices in good governance and quality Scouting. The tool allows National Scout Organizations to assess their strengths and areas of improvement, and enhance their accountability to stakeholders.

The virtual assessment process helped the National Association of Cambodian Scouts translate documentation from their national language of Khmer into English and prepare evidence in digital formats that could be easily shared online with the WOSM Assessor.

Over the course of three days, the National Association of Cambodian Scouts completed their assessment virtually and are now working with a WOSM Consultant to come up with an action plan that will help their organisation receive further support from the WOSM Services as they work towards their growth agenda.
