APR Forum on Scouts for Sustainable Development Goals

We are pleased to inform you that Scout Association of Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Asia- Pacific Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, is organizing the APR Forum on Scouts for Sustainable Development Goals.

The main aim of this forum is to explore ways of promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in all National Scout Organizations (NSOs) in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Conference Resolution No. 20/18 of the 26th APR Scout Conference encourages each NSO to initiate programme and/or policies to contribute in achieving the SDGs in the Asia-Pacific Region. Moreover, Objective No.2.2 of the APR Plan 2022-2025, under the strategic Priority of Educational Methods, affirms to “support NSOs to integrate the four thematic areas of the Better World Framework and innovate their Youth Programme to equip young people with the necessary competencies to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals as active citizens in their communities.”

Basic information of the event are, as follows:

Date: 7-10 April 2023 (Friday – Monday). Forum participants are requested to arrive on 7 April 2023 and may leave in the evening of 10 April 2023.
Venue: BP International, No. 8 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong
Objectives
  • To identify the key challenges in Scouting related to SDGs
  • To map out innovative practices of NSOs and showcase the contribution ofScouting in SDGs
  • To raise awareness on the progress of implementation the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals under short/medium/long-term strategy
Eligibility: 

The Forum is an opportunity for NSO leaders (volunteers or professional) responsible for projects/programme related to Sustainable Development Goals to meet and share information as well as form partnerships and work together on topics of common interest.

We would also like to encourage “young adults” (aged 18 years old and above) who are committed to deliver youth-led projects in their NSOs that create social impact and contribute in achieving the SDGs.

Registration Fee:  US$200.00 per participant to cover inland transportation, meals, accommodation for the forum duration, forum kit, documents, and souvenirs.

BP International, No. 8 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong

Accommodation of forum participants will be taken care of from 7 April 2023 night until 11 April 2023 noon (4 nights) and any extra nights will be at the cost of the participant.

Participants will be accommodated in a twin-sharing room basis. For those who wish to stay in a single room, an additional fee of US$60 per day will be charged. Kindly inform Scout Association of Hong Kong should you prefer a single room not later than 10 March 2023.

Meals shall be provided to participants from dinner on 7 April 2023 until breakfast on 11 April 2023. Those who have any special food requirements please inform the host Scout Association of Hong Kong in advance.

Working Language:  The working language of the forum will be English. NSOs are requested to select participants who are able to understand and take an active part in discussions in English. The medium of instructions and inputs will also be in English.
